So, this past weekend I went to Vegas for the annual BlogWorld Expo Conference. This was my first year, and I think I heard in one of the keynotes that this was the fourth year for the conference. My overall impression of the conference was: Meh. Probably won’t go again for a couple of years.
Now, granted, I’m a newbie at this whole blogging professionally thing. I’ve been blogging personally for years, but I’ve only been blogging professionally for about six months or so. But, I’ve been to other business conferences and walked away with pages and pages of notes about tricks/tactics/tips/etc. that I couldn’t wait to get home and implement. At this conference? Not so much.
That’s not to say there weren’t some excellent sessions. Chris Garrett and Darren Rowse of **Problogger fame gave a great series of sessions starting on Thursday that were informative and entertaining. Mari Smith, who I’ve heard referred to as the “Facebook Lady” because she wrote an excellent book called **Facebook Marketing: An Hour A Day, also gave an excellent session on branding your blog. And I did walk away with some tips from both and some ideas that I need to think about further to implement here on the blog.
